You will understand the title to our current exhibit, Attention to Detail, when you view the works from our two talented artists. Chuck Long’s pen and ink drawings of a variety of subjects including unusual buildings, railroad subjects, or wildlife, all show exceptional detail. Frank Morgan’s oils on canvas are part of a long-term study he is doing on the Susquehanna River. His ultimate goal is to paint a full series of river landscapes frthe entire length of the Susquehanna. We welcome you to visit the Susquehanna House Gallery, located on the second floor of Shank’s Mare’s Susquehanna House, and support the work of your local artists.

Artists in Residence

The Susquehanna House Gallery now features Artists in Residence. These artists will have their work displayed on a longer term basis than our scheduled shows in the gallery. Our current Artsists in Residence are:

Art in Nature Class for Kid’s

Wed., June 16, 2010, 10:30-12:30

Susquehanna House Gallery welcomes local artist Renee Evans to lead this program. This class combines the beauty of nature and the creativity of art. Kid’s will go on a hike and collect natural treasures on the way. Then, they will return to Shank’s Mare where they will learn how to incorporate these treasures into a piece of art. Along with Mother Nature, we will provide all class materials. Class is for children ages 6 years to 10 years.

Fee – Members-$16/Child, Non-Members-$18/Child

Shank’s Mare Art & Outdoor Fest

Sat., July 31, 2010, 10am-4pm

Join us for our First Annual Art & Outdoor Fest to be held on Shank’s Mare’s 32^nd anniversary, July 31, 2010. This event will feature local artists displaying their work in booths on our front porch and grounds. We will also have local outdoor, historic, and cultural organizations present offering information on the wide array of activities and programs in our area. Enjoy food and ice cream at the Lock 2 Café, and we’ll top off the day with live music. Spend the day savoring the flavor of the Susquehanna with art, activity, food and entertainment. Watch for details!

Artisans in The Rookery

This special holiday event features a talented array of local artists displaying their work for sale in our beautiful meeting room, The Rookery. A multi-artist show will be featured in the Susquehanna House Gallery at the same time. All art will be for sale, just in time for holiday giving.
