2009 Fall Chincoteague Trip
A Paddler’s Dream!
Our October, 2009 Chincoteague trip maybe had a tough start, but that was only a minor inconvenience. Okay, so maybe a Nor’easter in a house on the Bay is not minor, nor the flooding of Chincoteague Island, but once that was through, the trip proved to be awesome. After many years of running this trip, we have found the perfect location on the island for some great paddling. We enjoyed kayaking every day with each outing getting better. Among other birds migrating, the raptors were really busy, so we saw hawks, osprey and eagles, along with Canada geese, snow geese, heron, shore birds too numerous to name. The ponies were visible on Assateague Island...in fact we almost thought one was going to come out on the water to greet us!
Thanks to all our great customers who joined us. We truly enjoyed your company. Sorry about the resident buck, but we have no control over weather or wildlife! And what a pleasure to find some folks who had been on our Janes Island trip a few years ago, staying just a few doors down. Great to have you paddling with us as well.
Here are some pictures gratefully provided by one of our paddlers. They are great but I think we can all agree that they don’t do this magical place justice. Thank you all again, and we are looking forward to next year’s trip!
