Wind Cave Exploration – Moderate Difficult
Saturday, April 8, 2023 - 10:30am-1:30pm
Did you know that the Lower Susquehanna is the site of a tectonic cave – a cavern formed by layers of shifting rock versus the typical limestone and water formation? Come explore Wind Cave with us.  Following a hike to the entrance, enter the cave and explore the twists and turns of this unique formation located on the Conestoga Trail in Lancaster County. The hike up to the cave and back is about a mile and a half.  To enter and navigate the cave, you will have to do some bending and twisting.  Flashlights (headlamps work best), sturdy footwear, long sleeves and pants required.   The temperature inside the cave will be about 55 degrees.  Hard hats are provided.

Fee – includes shuttle, guided hike & cave tour - $45/Person

The Civil War Comes to Wrightsville – Easy Hike

TBA
Join Shank’s Mare and guest leader, Civil War enthusiast and author Scott Mingus Sr. to hike the streets of Wrightsville and trace the steps of the Civil War conflict as it comes to the Susquehanna.  You’ll venture into little know areas of the town and see where the Union and Confederate troops positioned themselves prior to the burning of the Columbia-Wrightsville Bridge.  You’ll hear interesting stories of the town’s people, local militia, and military troops. Wrightsville was a turning point in the Civil War, and you will be intrigued to see how many areas of the town are much the same as this crucial period in our history over 150 years ago.  And here's a great idea.  Enjoy brunch at The John Wright Restaurant before the hike - give them a call (717-252-0416) to make a reservation and enjoy a lovely day in the Trail Town of Wrightsville.
Hike reservations required....just click on the link above.

Fee – includes hike, expert guide and lecture - $27/Person
