Shank’s Mare guides will lead you through the unique rock formations that mark this area of the river and into the footprint of the Susquehanna Canal as it ran towards the Chesapeake almost 200 years ago. There is a restored canal lock to explore at the put-in of this tour. Muddy Run and Conowingo Dam energy facilities are in this area of the river, and Riverkeeper Ted Evgeniadis will discuss how those facilities provide both benefits and drawbacks to the Susquehanna. Paddlers will meet us at the put-in for this paddle. The put-in and take-out are at the same spot.
