The rock formations in this area of the river are still a mystery to the geologists, and this part of the river is unlike any of the other areas we paddle on the Susquehanna. It is truly one of our favorite paddling destinations. As you meander through the unique formations, you may stop to take a dip, use your camera to capture the awesome landscape, and enjoy a picnic lunch provided for you. There is a restored lock from the Susquehanna Canal in the area. Tour includes kayak, lifevest and paddle with a deduction available if you have your own gear. Paddlers meet at the tour put-in (put-in and take-out are the same and this information will be provided to you prior to the tour).
Tour guide, gear (with a deduction if you have your own) and lunch.
Participants should wear clothing suitable for watersports, water shoes (no flip flops) and sun protection. We also suggest a hat with brim, sunscreen, water bottle and any snacks you may wish. A picnic lunch is provided.
Shank's Mare guides are experienced and knowledgeable. They are also happy to share special highlights about the Susquehanna River so you will have a true "sense of place" after your paddling experience.
