Paddle Day Tour - Columbia Crossing to Shank's Mare
Launch at Columbia Crossings and head downriver. You will travel the channel through rock formations to the Conejohela Flats located just across the river from Shank's Mare. This area is listed as an Important Bird Area by the Audubon Society. During mid to late summer, it is a popular migratory area for shore birds. You are bound to see a wide variety of birds including bald eagles, osprey, heron and more. After your paddling exploration, a picnic lunch will be served on Shank's Mare's porch overlooking the river. Rental kayaks are available or bring your own. Meet at Shank's Mare and shuttle to the put-in in Columbia.

Requirements:
Participants should wear clothing suitable for watersports as well as water shoes (no flip flops). We recommend cool weather clothing (no cotton), nylon shell or paddling jacket, hat with a brim and water bottle.
Instructor Bio:
Shank's Mare instructors have years of experience leading participants on paddle tours. They will share highlights of the Susquehanna River sure to give you a valuable "sense of place" on your paddle tour.
