Students visit Shank's Mare each Spring and Fall for a full day of educational fun on the Susquehanna River. They get up close and personal to the river as they paddle kayaks and learn the importance of the Susquehanna's relationship to the Chesapeake Bay. They get wet and muddy in Fishing Creek looking for macroinvertebrates and discover the importance of this ecosystem to the health of streams and the river. They walk in the footsteps of Native Americans as they learn to be good stewards of this beautiful River. Each Spring and Fall Shank's Mare welcomes hundreds of students to share this most valuable treasure.
